29 April 2021 System release updates

New job applications view

We've introduced a simplified view of the ‘Your applications’ page. Applicants can now see their applications, job details and what stage their applications are at. The new layout will show up to 10 applications per page.

Each application has a status describing where it is in the recruitment process. Applicants will be able to see if they have any actions to complete for their applications.

We've also made sure that the new design is accessible on smaller mobile devices.

Character counts

We've added character counts to some text boxes of the application form. Feedback from user research told us this would help when filling in an application form, so applicants knew how much information to add.

Character counts are on pages where applicants add information about:

  • the essential and desirable person specification criteria added by the employer
  • criminal conviction details, if applicable to the role
  • fitness to practise case details

Withdraw an application

Applicants can now withdraw a submitted application from their job applications page.

Applicants can withdraw their application from these recruitment stages:

  • application submitted
  • invited to interview
  • interview confirmed
  • interview declined

Applicants will receive an email to confirm they have withdrawn their application.

The recruiting manager for the job will also receive an email notifying them about the withdrawn application.

Applicant communication preferences

Applicants can now choose how they would like to receive application updates. Applicants will need to set their communication preference when applying for a job. They can choose from:

  • email
  • email and telephone
  • email, text message and telephone

If they choose the ‘email, text message and telephone' option they will need to enter a UK mobile telephone number to receive text messages.

Applicants can review and edit their preferences on the 'View your application' page before they submit the application.

Continuous improvements

We have translated more pages into Welsh for applicants who prefer to view the service in Welsh.
